Bushnell Brown Bread

Ingredients
- 8 cups flour
- 8 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/4 cup lard
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 4 -5 tablespoons salt
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 2 -3 cups lukewarm water
- 2 (4 tablespoon) envelopes dry yeast
Recipe
- 1 proof the yeast in 1 cup of warm water for 10 minutes.
- 2 cut the lard into the dry ingregients.
- 3 make a well and add the yeast mixture and molasses.
- 4 add the water a little at a time until you have a pliable dough.
- 5 knead on a lightly floured board for several minutes.
- 6 allow to rise until double, placing in a greased covered bowl.
- 7 form into loaves and place in greased bread loaf pans.
- 8 allow to rise until doubled.
- 9 bake 300f for 1 hour.
