Caramel Apple Dumplings

Total Time: 35 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 cup chopped apple

Recipe

  • 1 in a skillet, heat the unsoftened butter, brown sugar and water to boiling. reduce heat to simmer. meanwhile, mix together all dumpling ingredients.
  • 2 drop by tablespoonfuls into the simmering sauce. cover tightly and simmer 20 minutes. do not lift lid. serve with ice cream if desired.

Caramel Apple In A Bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 apple, diced
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons raisins
  • 2 tablespoons chopped pecans

Recipe

  • 1 mix the apple with the brown sugar and let set for about 10 minutes.
  • 2 add the raisins and pecans and mix well to coat everything with the juice from the apples.

Champagne Cabbage

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 2 large onions, peeled and sliced very thin
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 large tart apples, peeled and sliced 1/8 inch (i use granny smith)
  • 1 red cabbage
  • 1 green cabbage
  • 1 1/2 cups champagne, room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon, zest of
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Recipe

  • 1 melt the butter in a large heavy saucepan and add the onions.
  • 2 cook and stir over medium heat until they soften.
  • 3 add the apple slices and saute for 5 minutes.
  • 4 core the cabbages and slice them very very thin.
  • 5 add to the saucepan with 1/3 of the champagne, the sugar, lemon zest,salt and lemon juice.
  • 6 bring to a boil and simmer gently, covered for 15 minutes.
  • 7 add the remaining champagne and a grind or two of pepper and simmer, uncovered for 10 minutes.
  • 8 serve immediately.
  • 9 the cabbage stays fairly crisp because of the acid in the champagne and lemon.

Cinnamon Sugar Donut Bites

Total Time: 4 mins Preparation Time: 2 mins Cook Time: 2 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 (16 ounce) can pillsbury grands refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • oil (for frying)

Recipe

  • 1 preheat stove on medium (about 6 on a scale of 1-10).
  • 2 open can of biscuits and squash or roll each biscuit until it is about 1/4 of an inch.
  • 3 cut each thin biscuit in half (half moons), then cut each half into thirds.
  • 4 mix sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl.
  • 5 drop the biscuit pieces into the oil until they are golden brown. they will puff up, so make sure they aren't crowded in the pan.
  • 6 coat the donut pieces in the cinnamon sugar.

Cinnamon Sugar French Toast

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon, divided
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 loaf sourdough bread
  • butter or oil
  • 1/4 cup confectioners' sugar
  • maple syrup
  • butter

Recipe

  • 1 combine milk, sugar, eggs, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, and salt and mix until blended.
  • 2 cut bread into 3/4 inch slices.
  • 3 dip in milk/egg mixture long enough to soak through.
  • 4 place a hot skillet with the melted butter or oil and fry until golden brown on both sides.
  • 5 remove from pan and roll in confectioners' sugar mixed with the remaining cinnamon.
  • 6 serve with syrup and butter.

Chili-roasted Carrots

  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 lbs carrots, cut in 1/4-inch diagonal slices
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice

Recipe

  • 1 position rack in lower third of oven, preheat to 450°f.
  • 2 combine oil, chili, cumin and salt in medium bowl. add carrots and toss well to coat. spread out on a rimmed baking sheet.
  • 3 roast the carrots, stirring once, until tender and golden, 20-25 minutes.
  • 4 toss the carrots with cilantro and lime juice. serve immediately.

Burgundy Wine Salad

  • 1 (6 ounce) package raspberry gelatin powder
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 (16 ounce) can cranberry sauce
  • 1 (15 1/2 ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Recipe

  • 1 dissolve gelatin in boiling water.
  • 2 mix in cranberry sauce while gelatin is still hot.
  • 3 blend well and add pineapple.
  • 4 set aside to cool.

  • 6 pour into 9x13 pan and refrigerate until set.
  • 7 top with mixture og whipped topping and miracle whip (suit to taste).

Cinnamon Sugar Banana Fritters

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1/2 cup beer
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • salt, to taste
  • 1 egg , beaten stiff but not dry
  • fat (for frying)

  • goslings black seal rum (optional) or a similar good quality rum, heated (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 heat fat (to about 360f).
  • 2 in a bowl, blend butter, beten egg, beer, flour, and salt until smooth.
  • 3 fold in egg . cut bananas in 1 1/2-inch lengths, dip each in batter and fry in deep fat.
  • 4 when light golden, remove and roll immediately in cinnamon sugar.

  • 2 1/2 cups natural oats
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence
  • 1/4 cup low-fat milk
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour or 1/2 cup plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup dried raisins

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 180-190° celsius.
  • 2 melt butter in saucepan. toss in oats to toast gently about 9 minutes.
  • 3 beat egg, sugar and syrup till foamy.

  • 5 add flour, raisins and baking powder to cooled oats.
  • 6 mix well.

Chill And Bake Molasses Oatmeal Bread

Ingredients

  • 5 -6 cups all-purpose flour or 5 -6 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 (8 g) packages active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/3 cup molasses
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 1 1/2 cups quick oats or 1 1/2 cups old fashioned oats, uncooked
  • cooking oil
  • 1 egg , slightly beaten
  • 2 teaspoons rolled oats

Recipe

  • 1 combine 2 cups flour, yeast and salt in large bowl. (note: the first 5 steps can all be done in a kitchen aid stand mixer with dough hook.).
  • 2 add molasses, 2 tablespoons cooking oil and hot tap water. beat at medium speed for 2 minutes. scrape bowl occasionally.
  • 3 add 1 cup flour. beat at high speed for 1 minute.
  • 4 stir in 1 1/2 cups rolled oats.then gradually stir in just enough flour to make a soft dough.
  • 5 kneading: if doing this by hand, turn out onto floured surface. knead until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes. if using the stand mixer, about 5 minutes.
  • 6 on floured surface, gather dough into a ball and cover with plastic wrap and then drape a towel over the wrap. let rest 20 minutes.
  • 7 punch down. divide dough in half. shape each half into a round load about 8-inches in diameter. they will be a little smaller if you have used whole wheat flour.
  • 8 place on a greased baking sheet. brush dough lightly with cooking oil. cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate 2 to 24 hours.
  • 9 remove from refrigerator, uncover and let stand 10 minutes.
  • 10 brush with egg ; sprinkle each loaf with 1 teaspoon oats.
  • 11 bake in 375 degree oven for 35 to 45 minutes. use lower oven rack for best results. if crust browns too quickly, cover with foil.
  • 12 cool on wire rack.

Burnt Almonds

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • 3 cups almonds
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water

Recipe

  • 1 combine all ingredients in a large heavy based frying pan.
  • 2 stir over a high heat and keep stirring until eventually the water is absorbed and the almonds are coated in sugar.
  • 3 it is important to keep stirring and gradually the sugar caramelizes, turning to toffee, hence the "burnt" almonds. if you leave them on the heat after this they really will be burnt.
  • 4 as soon as all of the sugar has turned to toffee, tip them out onto a large sheet of baking paper (silicon coated paper) laid out on your kitchen bench. it is useful to have a helper at this stage to help spread them out a bit. this makes them easier to snap apart later.
  • 5 when cool, break them apart and store in an airtight container.

Cinnamon Sugar Rattle Snakes, I Mean Snacks!

  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (15 ounce) can chickpeas, drained and rinsed

Recipe

  • 1 preheat your oven to 350*f.
  • 2 mix the sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl. add the chicpeas and toss until coated thoroughly.
  • 3 spread out on an ungreased cookie sheet. bake for 55-60 minutes, shaking the sheet and mixing occasionally until the chickpeas are crisp and rattle in the pan. they will crisp more while cooling. enjoy!

Chocolate Fig Honey Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cups liquid honey
  • 1 cup tea, strong
  • 1 tablespoon lemon rind, grated
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup dried fig, diced
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped

Recipe

  • 1 in a small saucepan, bring the honey just to a boil; remove from the heat.
  • 2 stir in the tea and grated lemon rind; set pan aside and let cool slightly.
  • 3 in a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, baking soda, ginger, allspice and salt; stir in the figs.
  • 4 set the bowl aside.
  • 5 in a large bowl, beat the eggs until pale and frothy, about 5 minutes.
  • 6 beat in the oil and vanilla.

  • 13 for the drizzle, melt the chocolate over hot (not boiling) water.

  • 1 1/3 cups sugar, divided
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350°f.
  • 2 in a large mixing bowl, beat together butter, 1 cup sugar, and egg.
  • 3 combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • 4 add the flour mixture to the egg mixture alternately with the buttermilk.
  • 5 in a small bowl, combine the cinnamon and remaining 1/3 cup sugar.
  • 6 pour a third of the batter into a greased 8x4x2-inch loaf pan.
  • 7 sprinkle a third of the cinnamon sugar on top of batter.
  • 8 repeat layers twice.
  • 9 bake for 45-50 minutes, until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.

Chililicioius Chicken Chili (oamc)

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 1 (4 ounce) can green chilies, chopped
  • 4 -5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 (19 ounce) can kidney beans (drained and rinsed)
  • 1 (19 ounce) can black beans (drained and rinsed)
  • 1 (19 ounce) can chickpeas (drained and rinsed)
  • 1 1/2 cups corn (canned or frozen)
  • 1 -2 lime (cut in half and squeeze juice)
  • 1/2 cup cilantro, chopped
  • 3 cups cooked chicken, shredded (i usually buy a rotisserie chicken and use 1/2 the meat)
  • 1 dash cayenne or 1 dash hot sauce
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 cup monterey jack cheese
  • lime wedge
  • tortilla chips
  • avocado
  • cilantro

Recipe

  • 1 in heavy sauce pan, sautee onions in olive oil. add green chilies. cook till onions are soft.
  • 2 add garlic and sautee a few more minutes.
  • 3 add dry spices and flour and cook for 2 minutes stirring constantly.
  • 4 slowly add chicken broth and cook until thickened.
  • 5 rinse beans and add to pot.
  • 6 add corn, lime juice, cilantro and chicken.
  • 7 add hot sauce or cayenne to taste.
  • 8 add salt and pepper to taste.
  • 9 simmer gently for a few hours.
  • 10 toss in the cheese (sometimes i add more than a cup).
  • 11 add a bit more cilantro and lime juice to taste.
  • 12 serve with more monterey jack cheese, lime wedges, cilantro, avacado and tortilla chips.

Cinnamon Swirl Bread (bread Machine)

Total Time: 55 mins Preparation Time: 25 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 16
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons butter, cut up
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons yeast
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 chopped walnuts or 1/3 pecans, toasted
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • sifted powdered sugar

Recipe

  • 1 add the bread ingredients to your machine in the order suggested by the manufacturer of your machine.
  • 2 select dough cycle.
  • 3 when cycle is complete, remove dough, punch down, cover and let rest for 10 minutes.
  • 4 meanwhile, make filling by mixing brown sugar, nuts and cinnamon together in a bowl and set aside.
  • 5 in a lightly floured surface, roll dough into a 14x9 inch rectangle.
  • 6 spread with the ` tablespoon butter and sprinkle with filling.
  • 7 starting from both short sides, roll each side into a spiral toward the center.
  • 8 place, rolled side up into a greased 9x5 loaf pan.
  • 9 cover and let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes or until nearly doubled in size.
  • 10 bake at 350º for about 30 minutes or until bread sounds hollow when lightly tapped.
  • 11 if necessary, lightly cover with foil during the last 10 minutes to prevent overbrowning.
  • 12 remove from pan to cool on a wire rack.
  • 13 before serving, sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Cinnamon Syrup

Total Time: 10 mins Preparation Time: 3 mins Cook Time: 7 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup cream or 1/2 cup evaporated milk

Recipe

  • 1 bring sugar, corn syrup, water and cinnamon to a boil.
  • 2 boil 2 minutes.
  • 3 let cool 5 minutes.
  • 4 then add 1/2 cup cream or evaporated milk.

Cramer Martini

Total Time: 5 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 2
  • 4 1/2 ounces gin
  • 3 ounces vodka
  • 1 1/2 ounces dry vermouth (chilled)
  • olive
  • cocktail onion

Recipe

  • 1 pour all ingredients into cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  • 2 shake vigorously.
  • 3 strain into frosty martini glass.
  • 4 garnish with both olives and onions.

  • 1/3 cup water, warm
  • 1 cup milk, warm
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 6 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

Recipe

  • 1 in a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water, then add the milk, 1/2 cup of the sugar, eggs, butter, salt & 2 1/2 cups of the flour, beating until smooth. stir in enough of the remaining flour to form a soft dough.
  • 2 turn onto a floured surface, then knead for 6 to 8 minutes or until smooth & elastic.
  • 3 place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top, then cover & let rise in a warm place about 1 hour or until doubled.
  • 4 grease two 9"x5" loaf pans.
  • 5 punch dough down, then divide in half. roll each half into an 18"x8" rectangle.
  • 6 in a small bowl, combine cinnamon & remaining 1/2 cup of sugar, then sprinkle this cinnamon mixture over the dough, before rolling each rectangle up from a short side. pinch the seam to seal the dough.
  • 7 place seam side down in the prepared loaf pans, then cover them & let rise until doubled, about 1 1/2 hours.
  • 8 preheat the oven to 350 degrees f & bake the loaves for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
  • 9 remove from pans & cool on wire racks.

Craft Dough For Ornaments

Total Time: 72 hrs 20 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 72 hrs

Ingredients

  • 2 cups baking soda
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 1/4 cups cold water

Recipe

  • 1 mix baking soda and cornstarch in a pot.
  • 2 add 1 1/4 cold water.
  • 3 stir and bring to boil; continue stirring one minute until consistency of mashed potatoes.
  • 4 place dough on cutting board and cover w/ damp cloth.
  • 5 cool then knead, roll into shapes or cut w/ cookie cutter on waxed paper. (my first batch was a dream to roll, for my second i used extra cornstarch to roll.)
  • 6 allow to dry. (i let them air dry on cookie sheets covered with wax paper over several days, turning once a day.)
  • 7 paint.
  • 8 remember to make a hole to hang on a hook or ribbon.

Crackling Cornbread

Total Time: 50 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 40 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 cup cornmeal
  • 4 tablespoons cane syrup (karo)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/4 cups buttermilk
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter or 4 tablespoons bacon drippings

Recipe

  • 1 combine flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and cornmeal. add the syrup and egg to the dry ingredients. stir in the cracklings. stir in the milk and the melted butter or bacon drippings. beat thoroughly and pour into a greased pan. bake at 350 f for 40 minutes. yield 6 servings.

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons sugar

Recipe

  • 1 combine all bread ingredients in large mixer bowl and beat for three minutes at medium speed.
  • 2 pour batter into greased and floured loaf pan.
  • 3 combine sugar and cinnamon and cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  • 4 sprinkle over batter and swirl lightly to marble.
  • 5 bake at 350° for 45 to 55 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  • 6 remove from pan immediately.

  • 1 combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon; set aside.

  • 2 trim the end of the stem to 1 inch. ( the stem is an extension of the artichoke heart and is edible!).

  • 3 place the chicken with marinade in one layer on a baking pan. pour another 3/4 cup of orange juice over the chicken. roast in the oven for 15 minutes, basting occasionally with the juice.
  • 4 stir the brown sugar in the juice mixture. turn the chicken over & continue to roasting & basting until the chicken is tender. (around 15 minutes).
  • 5 place the chicken into a shallow serving bowl & cover to keep warm.
  • 6 pour the pan juices into a saucepan. bring to a gentle boil & let the juice reduce to a thick sauce, stirring occasionally.

  • 2 stir in 3 tbs of soft margarine.
  • 3 add hot water all at once.
  • 4 beat for 2 minutes. (if using an electric mixer remember to scrape sides of bowl occasionally).
  • 5 add 1 cup of flour.
  • 6 beat (at high speeds for mixer) until think and elastic(about 1 minute).
  • 7 add enough flour(about 1 cup) to make a soft dough. (you will need a dough hook if you're using an electric mixer.
  • 8 knead until elastic and smooth (about 5 minutes).
  • 9 let rest of 5 minutes.
  • 10 roll out to 1/2 inch think and as wide as your loaf pan.
