Challah Ii With Maple Syrup Glaze (eggless Version)

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 teaspoons yeast
  • 4 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • maple syrup

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 400°f.
  • 2 dissolve sugar in 1/2 cup water in bowl of mixer.
  • 3 sprinkle yeast over water and mix, let stand 10 minutes until foamy.
  • 4 add remaining ingredients into mixing bowl.
  • 5 mix with dough hook for 6 minutes.
  • 6 place in oiled bowl, cover and let rise in warm place until double in bulk.
  • 7 punch down dough.
  • 8 let rise until double in bulk.
  • 9 punch down again.
  • 10 divide dough into 3 equal parts.
  • 11 roll dough into 3 long strands.
  • 12 braid the strands, tucking the ends under.
  • 13 cover with towel and let double in bulk.
  • 14 glaze with maple syrup.
  • 15 bake at 400 f for approximately 30 minutes, until golden brown.
  • 16 the challah is done when it sounds hollow when thumped on the bottom.
