Chrissy's Irish Soda Bread

Ingredients
- 6 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups raisins
- 1/4 cup margarine
- 3 1/2 cups buttermilk
- caraway seed (optional to taste)
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 325-350.
- 2 sift first 5 ingrediants together.
- 3 blend in margarine.
- 4 add raisins and caraway seeds.
- 5 add buttermilk to make a medium soft dough.
- 6 kneed or mix until spongy; dough will be wet.
- 7 divide into 2 greased and floured loaf pans.
- 8 bake for about 1 hour and 15 minutes - knife inserted into center should come out dry.
- 9 optional - brush top with milk while cooling; will soften crust and make it easier to slice.
- 10 remove from pans while warm.
