Danish Rye Bread

Total Time: 2 hrs 15 mins Preparation Time: 2 hrs Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 24
  • 1 1/2 cups lukewarm water
  • 1 1/2 cups molasses
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons caraway seeds
  • 3 ounces active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 1/4 cups rye flour
  • 3 1/2 cups flour

Recipe

  • 1 stir ingredients together in bowl.
  • 2 let rise at least one hour.
  • 3 let raise a second time.
  • 4 shape into 2 loaves and let rise in pan.
  • 5 bake at 400 degrees f until tops start to brown.
  • 6 bake at 350 degrees f to finish.
