Colonial Wassail

Ingredients

• 750 ml dry red wine
• 2 cups cranberry juice cocktail
• 1 cup sugar
• 1/2 cup water
• 1/4 cup lemon juice
• 4 cinnamon sticks
• 1/4 cup brandy
• lemon slice

Recipe

• 1 in a large saucepan, mix together red wine, cranberry juice, sugar, water, lemon juice, and cinnamon sticks.
• 2 heat just until mixture bubbles around the edges; reduce heat.
• 3 simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes.
• 4 remove cinnamon sticks.
• 5 stir in brandy.
• 6 ladle mixture into cups or mugs; garnish with a lemon slice.
