Curried Channa

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 25 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 16 ounces chickpeas, canned and liquid reserved
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 1 -3 teaspoon curry powder
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce

Recipe

  • 1 drain chick peas, retaining 4 ounces of the liquid.
  • 2 heat the oil in a large saucepan, add onion and garlic and fry until softened.
  • 3 add curry powder and cook gently, stirring, for one minute.
  • 4 add the drained chick peas and fry for 5 minutes.
  • 5 add the remaining ingredients plus the reserved liquid, bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer gently for about 15 minutes. serve hot.
