California Breakfast Bread

Total Time: 1 hr 10 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

  • Servings: 16
  • 2 cups low-fat buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup wheat germ
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup raisins or 1/4 cup chopped dates
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (i use pecans.)

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • 2 prepare a non-stick loaf pan by spraying with cooking spray.
  • 3 mix together all ingredients and pour into prepared pan.
  • 4 place pan in oven and lower oven temperature to 350 degrees.
  • 5 bake for 1 hour.
  • 6 turn loaf out on rack and cool.
  • 7 allow bread to cool at least 8 hours before slicing and toasting this bread.
