Buttermilk Dumplings

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 2/3-2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Recipe

  • 1 combine buttermilk, baking soda, and baking powder stir until mixture foams.
  • 2 add salt and beaten egg-mix well.
  • 3 stir in enough flour to make a soft but firm dough.
  • 4 drop by teaspoonfuls into simmering broth.
  • 5 cover and simmer gently for 15 minutes.
