Chocolate Meringue Kisses

Total Time: 35 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder (sifted)
  • 1 ounce unsweetened chocolate square (melted and cooled)
  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • cocoa powder (for dusting cookie sheets)

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 300 degrees.
  • 2 grease three cookies sheets and dust with cocoa powder.
  • 3 melt the chocolate square and set aside to cool.
  • 4 beat the egg whites with salt until soft peaks form.
  • 5 add sugar slowly and beat until mixture very stiff and shiny.
  • 6 fold in vanilla, melted chocolate, and the 1 tbsp cocoa powder.
  • 7 drop by heaping teaspoonfulls (2 inches apart) onto prepared cookie sheets.
  • 8 they will have the shape of chocolate kisses.
  • 9 bake 30 to 40 minutes.
  • 10 remove cookies from sheets immediately.
  • 11 cool completely and store in an airtight container.
