Common Gingerbread

Ingredients

- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon mace
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
Recipe
- 1 combine butter, molasses, brown sugar, and buttermilk in a medium saucepan over low heat. heat until butter is melted and remove from heat. when cool, beat in egg.
- 2 in a bowl, combine flour, baking soda, spices and salt; fold into moist ingredients.
- 3 turn into a greased and floured 9-inch cake pan and bake in the middle of a preheated 350 f oven for 30 minutes or until a tester comes out clean.
- 4 cool before serving.
