Competition Beans

Total Time: 2 hrs 20 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 2 hrs

Ingredients

  • Servings: 10
  • 5 (16 ounce) cans red beans
  • 1 1/2 cups barbecue sauce, see recipe for fat cat spicy sauce, but your own is fine
  • 1 cup catsup
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup beer
  • 1/2 cup apple cider
  • 1 onion, chopped fine
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Recipe

  • 1 drain beans.
  • 2 in a dutch oven fry bacon till crisp, do not drain grease, and add 2 tbsp olive oil.
  • 3 add onion, and soften (about 5 minutes).
  • 4 add garlic.
  • 5 add drained beans and all other ingredients.
  • 6 simmer 2 hours at least before serving (1 hour covered, 1 hour uncovered).
